Hi folks. New member question.
I just ordered a pair of Monitor 70 Series II towers.
I plan to use them with a Polk CS2 from a few years back and a Yamaha RX-V483 Receiver.
Any special warnings or tips on setting up the gear?
Thank you!

Hello, welcome! In looking at the Yamaha it seems pretty current and very flexible. I like the speaker wire connection instructions printed right on the back of the receiver. I've not seen that before, pretty thorough. Polk speakers and Yamaha components have always been a successful combination, each complimenting the other. Polk's speakers have always sounded best when kept as far as possible from large nearby reflective surfaces, pulled a bit into the room.
    Again, welcome!

I've got a pair of 70's on an Onkyo 6.1 receiver. I know, I didn't know 6.1 was a thing either and completely bought it second hand by chance. Mine sound dandy while each being fed 110 watts.

I see bi-amping is an option with my amp, Yamaha RX-V483. I am not sure if that would be powered or passive. How do I find that out? I am not planning to add another zone or surround speakers. Is it worth bi-amping I guess is my main question?

    Forget bi-amping with a receiver.

It's not bi-amping since all the channels are powered by a single power supply. It's nothing more than marketing hype, forget the idea.
