Recommendations for used AVR w/5 channel pre outs* for outdoor 4 spkr sound system.

Recommendations for used AVR w/5 channel pre outs* for outdoor 4 spkr sound system. Mostly for music. Also for 6-7 televised fall Saturday sports events.
Not picky on brand. Favor smaller chassis.
System will NOT be in a climate-controlled environment

What’s important:
Remote control,
HDMI connections
Prefer Digital coax for Circa ‘90s CD changer.
Reliability** more important than “super SQ”
Blue tooth nice but modules are available

* Parasound HCA-855🤩 handling the watts
** system powered by dedicated AC feed but no plan for power conditioner

I use PayPal. 😊

Side note looking for another pair of Atrium 55 speakers - thnx ’Mouse

1000 thanks in advance, Tony

Tons of stuff on eBay tony. I recently bought a Yamaha rx-a820 for $135 shipped, bought the remote separate for $20. I would look for an older denon, Yamaha, or pioneer.

thanks for your input. I’m expecting to find something in that $ range.

I’ve since done some looking around and I must confess: to which 2 or 3 brands should I limit the eBay search engine? THOUSANDS of choices!!

Thanks again to you and in advance to anyone else.

Do most AVRs* have a user adjustable EQ? If so, suggestions*? Must have preouts

Right now I have a neutral sounding Sony CD player driving a NAD 3020 pre out driving a Parasound 1000 to break in these Atrium 55s. To my ear they are clean and musical but “hot” from 2-3K on up. I think some shelving cut would do the trick. Either that or the XO needs a little surgical TLC

    Thanks

It does seem like pre-outs are getting harder to find on mid range receivers these days - they seem to be reserved only for TOTL units. I have 2 units - a Sony STRDA2ES and a H/K AVR 247, both of which have preouts and EQ. I'm not using either with external amps right now; they are doing fine, but I did run the Sony with an external amps when I had towers in my HT. It did a great job. The Sony has no HDMI, while the H/K has a 2 in, one out configuration which supports 1080p

Not exactly true: all Marantz SR units have full preouts (the 5xxxx series is about $1000), Yamaha starts adding them at the rx-a8xx series that is about $800 new, denon is the worst you don’t get preouts until the avr-x3xxx series, but there are still several models above that.

It is true that preouts have basically disappeared from entry level models and just about anything you can find at Best Buy...

Swapped to a Belles (FS BTW). Right off a softer top end or rather not so “hot” yet desirably. Hafta listen some more to be sure as I had to run. Kinda makes me wonder...

ive looked at few marantz NR AVRs on eBay. Didn’t see any w/surround outs. Right now an older unit is lookin’ good as used HDMI friendly units w/ pre outs above my budget ($150). I prefer HDMI friendly AVRs but Anonymouse suggested run the digital out from the TV to an older unit for sound feed, letting an external amp* power the speakers.

I’m gonna look more closely at anonymouse’s Sony AVR & HK

RT59 et al: BIG thnx for your input. Below I ask for more...

What’s the consensus on these Denon AVRs* powering an otherwise modest backyard system? I’m thinking yield to KISS and selling instead of using my P’sound HCA-855**to power it. We all know, in most cases, a separate amp will run circles around most AVRs but...
*I’ve studied the Denon 3312, 3300 or 2808 specs; Pioneer next
    **85/125WPC 8/4 ohm https://parasound.com/vintage/hca855a.php

Thanks for your allowing me to pick your brains. Gonna pull the trigger soon. HDMI not required but an optical* or coax* is. By the same token it’s mostly about “tunes.” 5, depending upon the weather, up to 10 Saturday afternoons we’ll watch college games w/friends in the fresh air😊
*DVR has both plus LR RCAs

The older beefier AVRs actually sounded pretty solid, especially powering efficient speakers. Since HDMI is not required, here are a couple I would look at:

    Denon avr-3805 (up to 3808ci)
Yamaha RX-V2500 (1500 is also pretty solid)
    Harman Kardon avr-520/630/7000

I would be perfectly happy with any of those powering my outdoor speakers fwiw...

Denon AVR 2802 Precision audio component heading this way.

2-3 days ago I laughed, at my self, because I’m usually chiming in to help AVR owners make a decision to upgrade to a separate amp🤪

Again, a big thanks to all that chimed in.
