Speaker placement and insulation protection questions

I am building a home in Wisconsin and would like some help in final decisions on speaker placements and protecting them from insulation.

I have the following speakers already:

(2) 265RT
(2) 65RT
S35 for center channel
Pre-construction brackets for the 265s and 65s

The room setup:
-12 foot ceiling in the great room
-Ceiling steps down to around 9 foot surrounding this area
-Room dimensions are approximately 16 foot by 17 foot
-exterior wall and anything above 9 foot are 2x6 construction and will be blown in blanket (bib) insulation. Ceilings are blown in cellulose
-rockwool safe n sound on all other interior walls
-tv will be mounted above fireplace above mantel

The picture shows anticipated speaker locations for the front speakers. I know one is on an exterior wall which is not preferred but I have to make due with what I have.

For the rears, I am considering just installing them in the ceiling due to proximity to the couches and being so high up. Any thoughts there on the placement?

I also want to protect from the loose insulation. I was considering these:

Any thoughts there? Especially with that exterior wall 265rt. Should I just make a baffled box out of Rigid foam board instead?

Please help!

Never put a TV above a fireplace.

Agreed, unless it's a low gas-fired unit and the mantel isn't more than 3-4' high. I also don't favor having a heat source directly below a TV, might shorten its life.
But he may not have much choice with this room?

As for the Backboxx, it looks like a good way to keep loose insulation away from the speakers, give it a shot.
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

  • It is the only logical place to put the TV it will be 36-42 inches above the fireplace. We do not use the TV while the fireplace is going in our current home and that will continue. We will have a fireplace tv mount bring it into better viewing position.

My primary concern as I stated is protecting the one exterior wall 265RT and placement of the rear speakers due to the height of the rear “wall”.
