Subject about says it all. Recommendations?

I’ve read reviews of speakers that seemed* to partially* or completely fail or fall apart through no fault of the buyer.
* blown drivers? Possibly the buyers fault if they were too aggressive w/the V knob or cheap electronics

Trying to stay under $250/pair

Thanks Tony

PS shopping for a used AVR w/pre-outs. Look in

I have been using Niles OS20 for years. Never had a problem with them. I do bring them inside for the winter. They come up on ebay every now & then. I think I paid $80 for my most recent pair(I have 2 pairs). There is a used pair there now for considerably more $$. I think these were designed for marine applications. I think they sound good for outdoor speakers.
Yep, my name really is Bob.

I’ve got a pair of Atriums I’ve been using for close to 10 years. They don’t look so great anymore, but they still sound good.

Yup! Read that MANY times compared to similar $‘d speakers. More is (a lot) more (eg B&W) but my top priority was weather “proofness” if that’s a feature, at a reasonable $. SQ stacks up against well near/at the same $ point.

    Cheers 🍻 Tony

Copied from my “WTB AVR“ thread:
“ Right now I have a neutral sounding Sony CD player driving a NAD 3020 pre out driving a Parasound 1000 to break in these Atrium 55s. To my ear they are clean and musical but “hot” from 2-3K on up. I think some shelving cut would do the trick. Either that or the XO needs a little surgical TLC.”

Swapped to a Belles (FS BTW). Right off a softer top end or rather not so “hot” yet desirably. Hafta listen some more to be sure as I had to run. Kinda makes me wonder...
