A wire is increased inside that lowers the protection circuit down to .5 ohm

Welcome twice @cuda12 . I went with a McCormack DNA 1. Soon as I got it it went on the bench under surgery, new caps for the main board. Also went ahead and bought 4 new 18,000 uF 100v caps and installed them in the B&K EX 442. Oh yeah.

Thanks @cuda12 Do you have any more information about what wire or who does this modification?
-
I only know that you can have it done (usually when doing a refresh) at Flannerys Vintage audio repair in Snohomish WA. But a few of the techs over at carversite might do it now.

With both amps now complete the DNA is now the main amp and the B&K is the back up amp. The DNA walks the B&K period...

I finally got the whole skinny on the "scintilla Mod" -
Sounds totally doable. I have bought another Carver and am in the process of restoring it. When I bought it it needed some work. 40/80 V rail cap set and a patching up of solder at Q7 and she sounds pretty good ! It's a M 1.5t though not a Sunfire. I will finish this one up and who knows, may well find a Sunfire next. I like Bobs stuff. Fixed up a M 400 cube amp for a friend just before this one. Talk about fun to work on !

Ah the M 1.5t that was Transfer Function modded to sound like a Mark Levinson (can't recall which one though)

I am going to check the bias and the high rail voltage and put it in play for a while after that. I have to say that if it were transfer function modified to sound like a Mark Levenson then I must like the Mark Levenson sound.
