HTS-10 Subwoofer Auto-on not working

I have a Polk HTS-10 Sub which I just bought, sub sounds fine, but I cannot get the Auto turn on to work from standby.
I have tried both LFE connection and RCA connection with crossover set to max. Tried various crossover settings on Receiver for main speakers from 40Hz to 100Hz.
Is this a common problem on the HTS-10, is it defective or can it be made to work?
Any help appreciated, unfortunately the HTS-10 does not have a 3rd setting to have the unit powered on all the time, so the auto on needs to work.
