Bought an Aerostich suit on eBay and seller charged me tax?

Bought a used riding suit for $650.00 with 24.00 for shipping. Then when I pay with PayPal I am charged another $49.30 for tax? It was not listed as such in his listing? I bought a new heated Dewalt jacket on eBay a week ago and there was no tax charged? Both sellers are from Texas ? Is this normal? Seems weird because I offered him 100 less than asking price and he countered 50 off and I excepted that. And here I am paying the 50 back to him? Thanks. D

    Yup. Our state just implemented the same thing. Any on-line purchase, whether it be new or used, we get charged sales tax.

    The tax money doesn't go to the seller. It's collected by eBay, then paid to a state.

    There’s no sales tax on clothing sold in Minnesota or on clothing bought online and shipped to a buyer in Minnesota. You should not have been charged.
