Thought I was in a fun house for a bit... It's weird to see the house racking around like that, chandelier swinging. We don't normally get any of that action.

6.5 magnitude near Stanley, ID about 35 minutes ago... Apparently Boise really felt it and it was felt up in Spokane, and in Montana.

6.5 is a pretty beefy temblor.

It’s down right on the huge side. They seem to be happening all around us. Not sure if that is good, bad, or irrelevant.

We were living and working in the "Bay Area" for the Loma Prieta quake (which Wiki-p says was 6.9... I thought I remembered it being 6.7).

Whenever I hear about big quakes up there I think of Yellowstone... thank God it's a good distance away from that one.

I was thinking the same thing John although I don't think the distance to Yellowstone is gooder enough.
If that thing ever blows.......whew !!

If Yellowstone goes off bigly, it will bury New York in 6 feet of ash within the first week. and Los Angeles would see a foot or more after it circles the globe a few times to get here.

    Virus... what virus?

My parents lived on the Presidio and were moving into their new govt. quarters. Dad walked out of the house and saw the ground rolling, literally! Mom and sister were on their way to Oakland but turned back to go to the Garment District. They would've been on the bridge when it collapsed. Aunt lived in Burlingame and a good friend of hers was, if you remember, the pregnant lady trapped in a smashed car on the Oakland bridge. Sadly, she lost the baby.
