Hey thanks Randy, how are those SDAs coming along?

A little preview, I will be making multiple RD0194/8 billet tweeter plates soon with proper throats and rear magnet recesses....

Remember @xschop folks had to put a #10 washer under the hole to make sure the plate was not pulled down too much it may be prudent to get hands on an older SL2000 face plate to match the stand off they had on the rear. Maybe a sl2500 and sl3000 faceplate to also see how different there are to the 194/198 and go from there.
I do have some sacrificed sl2000 plates i could send.

Before these go full throttle ahead.

I could be interested in some.

I remember that issue. It was due to the flimsy plastic buckling correct?

I plan on making them with the exact tolerances of the RD0194 plates I have here. I guarantee they wont buckle when bolted down.
The other aspect of the washer mod is that not everyone reported actual cabinet tweeter routing depths to warrant adding to a re- machined plate?

Yes flex did come into play as well as the back corners under the screws were not as tall or even with the rest of the face plate as seen here. The washer made up the difference.

Sl 3000 notice the back is supported around the screw hole even with front bezel.

RD0198 notice the screw hole is much lower than bezel allowing the screw to pull it down more than those supported.
Yes older tweeters were much more rigid faceplate.

Ah ok. So as long as the new plates are the same thickness thru the baffle mount holes as the outer edges, no need for washers underneath?

Thanks for clarifying. If I didn't post something within the week, I can't find it lol.

IIRC, the SL-2000's had a different tweeter magnet mount dimension as well?

SL2000 dome and voice coil was glued to the front bezel if that is what you mean, you can see in my first pictures.

I meant the 4 magnet-to-plastic plate mounting hole spreadwidths.

I would be concerned about using hard metal for a tweeter bezel. IMO, it is bound to make the highs harsher/brighter.

Of course not. Take a look around at all the speakers on the market and besides horns and wave guides you won't find many with metal tweeter bezels.

Anyone else able to measure their grill frame holes to confirm 0.305" diameter on all 4 corners?
