PB1-ISD Vs. PB2-ISD

Yeah, I know, another VS. question right?......right!

Now I know the specs of both the 1-ISD, and the 2-ISD, my wuestion is this...
Has anyone had any experince w/BOTH and is teh differece worth the price...
May be a matter of opinion, I'm just looking for those.
Ovbiously, if I could justify the $$$, I would go with the PB2, but with out hearing them. I'm looking for a little help.

    The best thing to do is email SVS:

    sales-svs@svsubwoofers.com

    They will usually respond within 24 hours with a reply and they won't try to "oversell" a sub to you.

    You will also need to provide the ceiling height i.e. 8 ft, 10 ft, as volume is critical here not just the footprint. Also any openings to other large areas of the house. A small sketch drawn with visio, word, or excel is very helpful. They will also need to know how loud you listen to music and movies. Reference levels are 85 db calibrated with Avia which most people set at 00 db on the AVR. How close to reference do you watch movies? One final question is if you can corner load the sub to benefit from room gain.

    All of these factors are important in the sub size selection for maximum performance. My gut feel though is that they will recommend the PB2-isd for that volume that you have but I could be wrong.

    yes i have had both Svs pb1 and 2-isd... The 2-isd is leaps and bounds ahead of the Pb1, yes big difference and worth the extra money, its what 300 more,. worth it... specially if you have alarge room... I have a small room and it fills it 10 fold... great purchase...

    What size room is the PB2 in? I am thinking of moving up to one from my Polk PSW505, although I can't find any fault with the 505.

    I had the polk 404, one step down from yours.. and it worked great.. Not as deep as the svs, but i heard that the 505 is a very nice sub... The svs pb2 i have is in basically a 12x12 room./. pretty small for now.. until we move or addon if we buy it.. But the Pb1 was actually plenty for this size room.. i just wanted the best i could afford for the future.. If we buy a new home i may not have the extra $$$ later..

    That's what I keep telling my wife :D:D .

    My room size is 19x25x9 with an opening into the dinning room and this thing doesn't know when to quit it just gladfully gives you all you can handle with no sweet. If I were you get the best you can get and you wont have the " woulda, coulda, shoulda" sindrome :D . You wont regreat it one bit I assure you.

    Dave - Room dimensions alone dictate a PB2-ISD, stop worrying about the wife, and just buy the damn thing.

    I get my PB1-ISD tomorrow, and I haven't even mentioned it to my wife...what's she gonna do when it's allready here? So I'll deal with a few angry looks, and no dinner for a couple days, who cares, this is audio man....and I have Ramen noodles.
    CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    Do a search on the PB2/+ and you will see that any skeptical reason become quickly justified.

    No dought about the room size. If you can push the $$$ even further the room is boarder line +, depending on how hard you want the lower freq. to hit.

    Well I guess I didn't need much convincing...just nailed a PB2-ISD...I didn't check the dinensions of the monster unill now...holy crap, it's huge!
    My chick was pissed that the couple PSW202's took up too much room.....oh this is going to be ugly!

    Way to go!!! When you hear and feel the power of the lower freq. you be glad you chose that one. You will be introduced to sound and feel the lower freq. that you never heard or felt before, you will quickly forget how much bigger it is (compared to you otherone once the action starts.

    I have a PB1 right next to my sitting position (only place it can go -- WAF), so it's only two feet away. I considered moving up to the PB2, but would that be overkill? Is the PB2 better for music?

    My room is 13' x 20' with an 8 foot ceiling.

    i think that size room for moderate volumes could be either sub, with the pb2 for louder volumes of course, Its not overkill when calibrated correctly... My 12x12' room is overkill for a pb2, but like i said its future proof for larger rooms.. BUT if you have to hide the pb1 for Waf.. (which is fine) you wont be hideing the Pb2 as its very large..:)


    Actually they both sound great on music, I would only imagine for lower listening (ie: night time, reading & listening) a sub with one woofer would be easier to drive ... My pb2 seems to need a bit more volume to get it rolling, IMO
