Removing S series plastic bezel to reduce diffraction?

Has anyone removed the beveled plastic bezel frame on the S series to see if it made a difference in sound be it bad or good? Just thought I would ask before I try removing and/or replacing the delicate plastic trim.

Do you mean the Signature series, S20, 50, 55,etc.? Are you talking about the black that is around the speakers shown below?



In short, I would say no. The only real affect the bezel would have is on the a tweeter if it was very recessed, but this is not the case on the signature series. I think the tweeter may even be mounted to the bezel shown.

Are you referring to the old S series from the early 90's. The plastic baffle is part of the design to reduce diffraction. (see attached)
