Indeed! Very nice considering their age. These were part of what was the first really decent stereo I laid eyes on. University of Illinois freshman dorm in, cough, 1968. Driven by kit built Dynaco.

All of those early AR acoustic suspension loudspeakers are capable of pretty amazing performance when fed gobs of high quality amplifier power (IME/IMO and FWIW).

I really like my AR4x's.
If they sound close to mine, they are a great set.
My AR4x's sounded GLORIOUS one night about 2 weeks ago. I don't know why but they disappeared and the wall was producing an amazing sound field. Bass, check. Midrange and highs, super detailed and no sibilance. When speakers disappear, you know you have something special.
I can see why this series gets great reviews.Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -
