Tinny sound

I recently moved into a new house and installed my system into the basement TV room. It now sounds tinny and the center channel is missing information, which is very obvious on certain DTS soundtracks.

I have an Onkyo TX DS787 with RM6600 series satellites.

The room dimensions are 12' x 15' with a 7.5' hung ceiling. It is constructed of insulated sheetrock. There is a couch and love seat in there but nothing else.

If anybody has any suggestions on how to improve my sound, I would greatly appreciate it.

what about old room vs. new room treatments, carpeting and walls? it might be the basement has more reflective surfaces and you are hearing more treble than before. How tall was your last ceiling, the lower 7.5' ceiling could be at fault?

Also check your speaker wiring, do you have one speaker out of phase? This will reduce your bass responce.

    Dodd - Battery Preamp
Monarchy Audio SE100 Delux - mono power amps
    Sony DVP-NS999ES - SACD player
    ADS 1230 - Polk SDA 2B
DIY Stereo Subwoofer towers w/(4) 12 drivers each
    Crown K1 - Subwoofer amp
    Outlaw ICBM - crossover
    Beringher BFD - sub eq

Where is the remote? Where is the $%#$% remote!

First of all little Rm6600 satellites are "tiny".
I have that Onkyo and I can shake plaster from the walls. If you center is missfiring you probably have something wired wrong. Double check all connections. :)

I think he means 'ten-e', as in the cheap metal Tin. A Tinny sound.....

Agree with above, get some objects in the room, check polarity and connections.

    Cheers,
