Just a thought

I was wondering if it was by any way possible to fit those highly acclaimed ring radiators on the RT2000I's and F/X1000's ??? I'm thinking; probably not but if there is a way to do this i would sure like to know it ?
i know that the 2000's and 1000's tweeters are mounted in some kind of plastic mold with the mids and that the ring radiator tweeters fit directly in the speaker.....I'm thinking that my 2000's would be allmost perfect with those rings in................

that is an interesting thought, especially since you could order the vifa ring radiator tweeter at PE. this had crossed my mind too, i figured it probably couldn't be done as well. it would be the ultimate tweek if applicable....
any thoughts from the more technically inclined out there, could this be done? -
I highly doubt the tweeter would would work properly with the current crossover.

that's what i was figuring, but i didn't know how much that played a role in it, i know it's harder than just wiring in and custom fitting a new tweeter...;)

...Detailed specs for both tweeters. Especially the SPL or effc rating and impedance. The new Vifa is a 4ohm tweeter, with an SPL of 91.5 db 1w/1m. This is a good match as far as SPL for most Polk speakers, however it may need to be toned down in the xover network to match your woofers/midbass speakers. (ex, if they are running 89db).
With the low F3 (resonant frequency) of the new Vifa, the actual xover point will be a non-issue, as far as upgrading the RT/RTi line.....
As far as modifying the cabinets for a 'professional' fit, depends on how good a fabricator you are......
Thats how I see it anyway.

Hmmmmmmm, so it could be done. The thing is that i am not the do it yourself kind of guy...... But, the idea of inserting those ring radiators tweeters in my 2000's sure sounds GREAT. Would there be a way to get a Polk representative or someone to do this without **** up my warranty ? I am willing to give it a try.

Well, i wrote to Polk about this and here is what they had to say:
Hello,
I am sorry but there is no way to replace current tweeters with the ring radiator tweeter. They will not "fit" the cutout and will not be compatible with the crossover.
Best regards,
Lauren
