@Navy_Goat I have to wonder about, if they are making them to order to their standard values, whether they could also make them to the exact inductance value you need at the same time. Wouldn't seem to be any particular problem for them to do......hmmmm.

Edit- Sent them an email regarding same. Will share the response if I get one.

Maybe? I would imagine they are still being manufactured by machinery (ie x number of wraps) so that would still involve a custom order.

  • or they make them in small batches, say 10 at a time. Since the numbers are always small it would be easier to list them as OOS in case they need to make a new batch which may take a few days or even a week to schedule.

Really, who know? You can ask, worst they can say is no....

Found the wire I'm going to use to rewire my 1C's. Wireworld sells bulk! You'd need to remove the outer cover to access the four runs of inner wire. 4 different colors on the inside which helps with identification later. Each run of Mini-Eclipse is 16ga and each run of Equinox is 14ga. Detail from these is freakishly good!

Interesting. They have OCC 16 gauge on sale for $7.20 per ft per channel (+ and -) and it looks like 8 wires (4 pairs?) make up the 16 gauge, maybe in Litz configuration for the pairs (not touching). So each of the 8 wires is 25 gauge, or the pairs in contact are 22 gauge effectively. Good for no skin effect.

By comparison to above, Neotech 22 gauge UPOCC, teflon insulated is $1.22 per ft and you're getting effectively 8 of these (8 pairs of 25 gauge) per foot at the above price of $7.20 per ft. (vs $9.76), so it's a 16% better deal. The caveat might be that the stuff from Wireworld might be only *Semi-Litz* due to the 2 wires that may be contacting each other within the pairs.

OK thanks. I wasn't aware that oval wires were commercially available although I have heard of a flattened oval from Neotech. All I had to go on was this pic and when I zoomed in, it looked like 4 pairs of round wires and it wasn't clear to me if they were in contact within the pairs:

They are indeed ribbon like or oval if you wish. They also take a special stripper.

I still see 4 pairs of wires where it looks like there are 2 round wires within each pair, like a figure 8. I can see that the overall construction of the cable is that of a ribbon, but that's not what I'm referring to. Oh and yeah I can appreciate that a special stripper would certainly come in handy here

Going strictly from the picture here, supplied by the mfg.

George sometimes you so over think stuff. We tell you it's not true and you sit and argue your point ad nauseam.
I'll speak clearly here the wires are oval they are not pairs of round they are oval ribbon like wires. I've stripped them and seen them with my own damn eyes
    OVAL WIRES !!

I cannot speak as to why their picture looks like that but I can certainly tell you they are oval ribbon like copper wire. All their wire/cable is that way AFAIK

OK sorry. I just needed to know that the picture is wrong. A picture or diagram or drawing means a lot to me. Call it an occupational hazard.

Also, I must say that it's appalling how much vagaries and lack of information that these companies that market fairly expensive stuff for audiophiles GET AWAY WITH. Must blame the consumer ultimately.

Agreed. When I built my IC's for my dreadnought with the mini-eclipse I used a flat wire stripper. Wireworld has a good video on how they terminate them.

  • Amazing that somebody might get the wrong idea  I forgot to mention that I, in trying to learn about the construction of their cables, came across many other pictures like this one that clearly show ROUND wires. Thank you folks for the clarification since I don't have your personal experience with these wires:

@audioluvr I guess this is the video and @pitdogg2 it clearly shows flattened sorta oval shaped conductors @3:48. A picture or video is great, when it's CORRECT that is:

George I owe you an apology. I got a little testy earlier today.

    I'm sorry I was wrong.

Why I seemed to remember them as having flat side I cannot say. What I will say is you were correct.

They are round I came home and examined them closely and yep round. Granted half of them broke when I untwisted them.
I did not end up using the wire I went with something else and I couldn't be happier. Absolutely nothing wrong with WireWorld I just decided to go with another company after playing with the WW cable.

well on their site it clearly says 1mqe832j6uho.png So yes depending on the cable they are both flat or round or more confusing to say the least.

@pitdogg2 No worries man. I'm worse than an audiophile, I'm more like an audioNERD so now that I'm a member of this forum everyone will suffer equally :D

Definitely typically confusing marketing. Thanks for checking it out for me and sorry yours broke in the process.

Zooming in more on the video I can see that they are actually 4 pairs of wires, but it sure did look like 4 flattened wires at first look! So *semi-litz* it is and doesn't meet my criteria.
