Question about Rti8 and Lsi7
Hi, guys.
I need your help for choosing Speakers.
This speaker will be my brother's wedding gift.
I bought him for onkyo Tx-nr901 receiver and velodyne CHT-12 Subwoofer.
Now I want to buy him for speaker system.
It will be for HT and Music both.
I have two options.
First, RTi8 for Front, CSi3 or Csi5 for center and rear for RTi6 or RTi4.
For this option, I have two questions. the Center for RTi8, which is reasonable Csi3 or Csi5. and for the rear RTi6 or RTi4. If Csi3 and RTi4 is enought for Rti 8, I will go for that but I have no idea.
Second, Lsi7 for front, LSiC for center. What is good for Rear? I counld not find yet.
From these two options, Which is better for my brother? RTi8 system or Lsi7 system.
Please Help me.
Thank you.

I'd recommend the Csi5 for the center, and Rti6 or Fxi3 to go with the RTi8.
On your second option, consider the Lsi9 for the front, LsiC for the center and Lsi7 for the rear.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

Those two systems are vastly different, both in price and sound quality. We need some more info. Most importantly, what's your budget? I can tell you that the lsi7s are 4ohm and that may not be ideal for the Onkyo901. Not sure if they can adequately power them. Also the lsi series is much more musical than the rti series. If he will listen to mostly HT, then I would say save the money and get the rti8s. The csi3 will be fine for a mid-large size room. If your room is really large, then go with the csi5 and the rti6 for the surrounds.

Given that he will or does have a sub ...
In the RTi line I would choose the RTi6's for fronts, CSi5 for center and the FXi5's for surrounds.
In the LSi line I would choose the LSi9's or 15's for fronts, LXiC for center and the LSiFX's for surrounds.
There will be substantial differences in price between these two setups and as already mentioned differences in the sound as well.
If possible I would at least listen to the RTi6's, 8's, 10's and/or 12's in the RTi line and the LSi9 and/or 15 in the LSi line to see which you like better. -
First of all, Thank you for your comment.
My brother will listen HT for 40% and Music for 60%.
My budget is $1000~1500.
I thought about LSI9, but it is too much for me now.
Thank you. -
Damn, I wish I was your brother. Do you adopt?
