Yamaha RXA1080 Receiver and LSiM Series Speakers

I have a Yamaha RXA1080 receiver. I'm looking to purchase a pair of LSiM705 or LSiM707 speakers. I would like to know if the RXA1080 has enough wattage to sufficiently power either of those models? Or is is recommended to purchase a power amp? I'm using the LSiM's for both home theater and music.

An amp is definitely recommended, especially if you are going to run them full range. If not, get the 705s and cross them over to a sub and you should be fine...

  • Thanks @rooftop59. I'm using dual subs. I'll try the 705s with the receiver alone and upgrade to an amp.
  • Either set of those Polk speakers will sound very good with that receiver. They will sound even better with an amp. Starting with your receiver alone and upgrading later is a great way to do it. Welcome to the Polk forum and enjoy your gear!

Try them with your AVR if not happy then add an amp. Once you get a good amp on speakers it's hard to go back to an AVR.
When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. Now I'm an adult and my kids tell me to turn it down.
