Had the day off and the wife is out. Spent it listening to Rush. In my opinion one of the best. They will never be the same without Neil.

Had the amps and subs going pretty good.

First listened to 2112, then Hemisphere and now on Permanent Waves. Looks like Farewell to Kings is next.

Never cared for them -- sorry about Neil Peart's untimely death, though.

I think it fair to say that they were Neil Peart. I don't think Geddy would have had nearly the success he had if he were anywhere else.

I have always liked Rush. Especially when I was a kid with a "high end" Onkyo receiver (said in jest), a TT, a pair of Scott then Klipsch Heresey's and this new fangled thing called a CDP. They sounded so cool back then and I'd play the same album back to back loud as hell before the folk's came home.

Ah, to be a kid again...

Now that the rig has made major strides, I can't stand the recordings. I think the producer of Adele's albums might have done a better job. Maybe all of their albums weren't like this but the ones I liked surely are/were. The ones I have still are about as dynamic as a ruler. Absolutely no fidelity. Sad, IMO.

For a week here a giant LED billboard had a huge NP display.
"HE WAS A MODERN DAY WARRIOR"
Then his picture and drum kit born and death dates.
I was amazed when I drove by. When I thought enough that I should take a photo it was gone.

I do not think I'll live long enough to see another drummer get his own RIP LED billboard.

Not sure I agree. Give 2112 a listen.

Okay, I will need a tad bit more information from the both of you, if you don't mind. I'm game to getting them again or looking in the CD/LP stash to see if I still have them.

Are you referring to a deluxe, SACD, LP or regular Redbook version when you both say that? I believe I had (or still have) both of them at one point. Talk to me.

I have DVD-Audios, blu-ray audio, SACD and redbook CD. All sound good to me.
I did however buy 3 fly by night albums and they all sucked. Sounded like they cut them with tacks. Of course they were purchased in the early 80's

I think it fair to say that they were Neil Peart. I don't think Geddy would have had nearly the success he had if he were anywhere else.

Neil Peart was certainly the major influence of the band and I don't know if they would have been nearly the success that they came to be. However, while Geddy Lee didn't do too much in the way of lyrics for Rush, you should check out his solo work (ie. My Favorite Headache"). The album features Geddy Lee (of course), Ben Mink (awesome guitar work) and Matt Cameron (Soundgarden drummer). Geddy Lee shines in the lyric department.
