Interested in cleaner power

Hello,

I finally have a complete HT system since upgrading my speakers, and now the only thing left to address is Power. I have never owned a power filter device.

In the HT arena, which company would you recommend I look at for such a device? I am not looking to spend too much money, say $500 tops. Will I be able to get anything decent for this much, or would I just be embarassing myself? Or more importantly, would it make much of a difference in performance? My setup is not that high end.

    Clean power is a good thing ...

    The question is ... Is yours dirty ? Can you hear it ? If it's making an audible difference then by all means get something to clean it up. Panamax makes some good units. If not then some decent surge protection may be all you need and spend the rest somewhere you'll hear it.

    You know, I can't honestly say its dirty sounding.

    Do you know of a good device that I could plug into the wall to test how "clean" the power is?

    I would reccomend you look into the monster hts3600. Retail for 499 but you can find it at a better price. We sell alot of the 3600's its a good mid range surge/clean power component. There are dedicated analog, digital & high power outlets & has stage 3 clean power ac filtering. There are lots of products out there but my advice in the $500 cost would be a hts 3600.     Lon, plugging something into the wall to supposedly "test" the power is meaningless. What counts isn't what comes out of the wall, but rather what comes out of the power supply section of your receiver. Audio engineers are well aware of the power that their products will be working with and the transformer, rectifier and filter capacitors in the receiver's power supply section are designed to do the necessary "cleaning". Don't waste your money.

    Another thing to look for is crank up some music with some bass and turn your TV on. Do you see any static at all when the bass hits. I used to have this problem before I got my filter. I don't think the power coming into my house was "dirty", but my equipment inside the house was adding a little "dirt". Money well spent for me.
