which sub to get: psw303 vs psw202
Hi all --
I'm about to purchase some polk rti8's and I'm torn about which sub to get along with it. the 2 that i'm looking at are the PSW202 and the PSW303.
I don't need a ton of bass, as I never really crank my system up all the way. I just want good solid bass for movies and music.
I have an onkyo 502 which will be powering the sub.
I've done some research and the 202 seems to have it's problems. altho polk audio does replace the amp, it's something i'd rather not deal with. I've also heard about some popping or lack of clarity on the 202.
with that in mind, seems like the 303 is a no brainer, but i've also read about ppl disappointed w/ the sub.
any advice is appreciated.
thanks!

What's your budget ?
-
right now if you buy a certain amount of polk stuff $$ wise you get a free 202....if this helps you any then the cash you saved you can use it to buy a better sub down the line or whatever else...

Check out the Hsu STF series subs. hi guys
thanks for the responses. my budget for subs and speakers is about 700 - 800 bucks. the reasons i'm even considering the rti8 is bec it comes w/ the free 202 sub.
that would keep everything within my 700 dollar budget. for 100 bucks more, i would be able to get the 303, which would still be under my budget.
i listened to the rti/8's and i loved 'em. for me to get these speakers, i have to stick to either of these subs.
if i were to consider other subs, I'd have to go with a pair of 400 or 300 dollar front speakers and spend the rest of the cash on the sub.
what do you guys think? -
You may be able to find a used or open box pair of Rti70's for $400, then you would have another $400 for a good sub. Another option is to get the Rti8's and sell the free sub NIB. Put this money towards a better sub.
Bottom line -- get the best for your budget, even if you have to wait a while to save up a little extra money. You'll be glad you did.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

If you are buying a sub and speakers ... I'd at least consider ( listen to ) the RTi6's. They'll be less and leave more for a better sub and as far as the mids and highs go may be better than the 8's.
-
If you buy the 505 for $499, then you can get $200 off the rti6's. That would put you at around $650 total.

thanks for the suggestions, everyone.
are the rti6's that much better than the rti8's? I've read on this forum that a lot of ppl prefer them to the rti8's.
i'm looking for a floor standing speaker so the rti8's jumped out at me. i guess i never bothered to ask what ppl thought of that speaker, and i assumed that tehy were solid speakers. you would think that with the 700 dollar price tag, that tehy would be?
doesn't the size difference in the rti8's and rti6's affect the sound that comes out? i'm guessing that the rti6's are much clearer highs and mids than the rti8's?
sorry for all the questions, i'm really new to all of this.
