Hello, does anyone have any info on how to get the Polk subs to replace the originals in a Polk C4 bandpass box?
I put 2 kicker comp's in, and they sound fine, but don't hit nearly as low as the original speakers did. Also, due to the magnet depth, I could only use two in the inner (push) chamber.
I still have the original speakers, but they pop and crack violently due to sheer wear and age, particularly the "pull" drivers.

bandpass boxes must be tuned for the particular driver's they've got in them. so im not surprised the kickers don't work so good. perhaps just make a new box suited to your new drivers?

Yes, the sub box does use 6X9's.
I am using a set of 6x9 Kicker subwoofers (they no longer make these). You can occasionally find these on Ebay in new-old stock auctions.
It actually sound godd, except that the frequency response of the Kickers are rated at a low of 30hz, and the original Polk subwoofers were rated to 25hz. In reality, the Kickers probably cut about 40hz however, as I discovered from using a bass test disc, while the Polks go down to an honest 25hz.
I really prefer a sub system that can go down to 20hz or pretty close to it!
Unfortunately, all 4 Polks are junk, due to the fact they are 10 years old (appx.). They all still play, but pop and crack, as I mentioned before.
I just wish there was a way to replace with the originals, particularly since they are the correct speakers for the box.
Also, any of you guys out there that have heard a C4 know how impressive they sound, especially considering the size / weight.

You may be better off retiring the bandpass and getting new subs and building a new box. ;)
