Monitor Series M4

Hi,
I recently purchased my first pair of Polk speakers, Monitor Series two-way bookshelf speakers in nice condition with black cabinets and 5" woofers from a local thrift store. They sound very good with my little Onkyo 50wpc receiver, just as nice as my more recently made Infinity 2 way monitors.
On the labels they are marked Monitor Series M4 with serial #'s 901560xx. Any info on these speakers? From what I gather they were made in the 90's.
Thanks!

Thanks again, I measured the woofer wrong, from the inside of the surround!
Speaking of surrounds they do look in perfect condition. Should I avoid cranking the volume on these so I won't rupture the surrounds like I did on my old Paradigm Atoms? Also when were these speakers manufactured? -

IIRC, Paradigm uses foam surrounds. I would assume that the surrounds on your paradigms broke because they rotted/disintegrated. Foam surrounds dry rot after a number of years and can be replaced relatively easily.
These Polk's have rubber surrounds, so you should be good on the dry rot front! Now, if the paradigm surrounds weren't rotted and they broke because of truly excessive volume, then, no, you probably shouldn't do that. But otherwise, go for it! -
The problem with replacing the Paradigm surrounds was the grills were not removable and the cabinet backs were fitted tightly, making it a hassle, so I recycled them to Goodwill.
They sounded good with an older 100wpc Kenwood receiver and SpeakerCraft sub, I usually listen to rock pop alternative and soul at mostly moderate volume.
