I picked up a pair of 10a speakers yesterday but the tweeters are different in that one appears to be peerless while the other looks to be an SL1000.

I've determined that the peerless tweeter provides much more clarity (shocker). I'm a little lost as to what constitutes a drop in replacement, so can anyone help me figure out how to get these speakers balanced? nyccsrzmz9ta.jpg

I believe somebody incorrectly replaced the Peerless in that speaker with an SL1000, look how much space is around the tweeter compared to the one with the Peerless in it. They should both have Peerless tweeters in them, there is no upgrade for the Peerless tweeter. It's already a good tweeter anyway.

Edit: Plus I believe the grey trim midwoofers are only in the older Peerless versions.

I concur with @Nightfall. I've always thought both peerless and SL1000 were the same size. I've never had both side by side to compare. That one linked to on ebay looks rough and I'm not too sure they didn't just turn it upside down on the dome to take that picture. I'd pass on that one but set up a search to let you know that one has been posted for sale.

Drop in = no modifications needed. Unscrew rescrew done.
The SL 2000 tweeters would need modifications to the hole cut out and the screw holes would be in enough to cause the screws to go in at an angle and no longer sit flush in the tweeter bezel.
