I recently went into a business as a partner. We bought the business and office with everything in it. Guess what I found in one of the rooms! A Pioneer SX-1050 receiver laying on its side with a newer Sony receiver (BB or CC model) sitting on it! I immediately threw the sony onto the floor and fired the 1050 up. Everything but the FM stereo light worked like a charm! It had an enormous amount of dust on/in it but cleaned it up and it sounds great with my RTI38's. Heavy **** (52 lbs). I ordered a manual off ebay but does anyone have any experience with this model? I think it is from 1976.
Receiver = Denon AVR-3803
DVD = Denon DV-2900
Fronts = SDA SRS 2.3TL's
(Carver m1.5t)
Center = CSi40
Side surrounds = Fxi30's
Sony 12" sub
TV = Hitachi 57F500

Bedroom rig:
Pioneer SX-1050 receiver
Rti38's

    LOL!

    I have a Pioneer SX-5560 receiver from the 70s. Looks very similar to yours. Sounds good to me with plenty of power for my tastes.

    My Dad uses his 1050 every day with his TV through Sansuii speakers. They have had it since new in around 1977.

    I wish that I had never sold my Marantz integrated and JBL L100s from that era!

    Enjoy your find,

    Not having owned a seperate Tuner before, how does power play a role in them? Maybe it's too late for me to be thinking clearly.........splain?

    Well, I hope your partner got the Sony... :D Congrats on your find.

    brett,
    Not a tuner, a receiver as in tuner, pre-amp and amp all in one box...
    More later,

    I bought a Pioneer SX-1050 in 1976 or 1977 and owned it till around 1989. I thought it was obsolete so I sold it. What a dumbass.
    Anyway, it was the next to the top of the line and rated at 120wpc. The top of the line SX-1250 was 160wpc I think. I did a lot of research back then and this was one of the top receivers of the time. It sold for around $750 in the states......I bought mine at a military exchange for around $375 I think. Would love to hear one again. Hope you enjoy it.
