Avr for the following

Hi Folks.
I'm currently in the market for a new avr and a sub. I have older speakers(2005) monitor 70's, cs2, monitor 40's. My
psw-12 keeps blowing fuses. Polk quoted me $300 for a new back plate. I figured I'd just buy a new one. My old HK-340 is finally giving up the ghost or I blew the tweeters in the monitor 70's. I'm going to try new tweeters. But I'd still like a more powerful avr.
Anyone got any recommendations for an avr. Hopefully under 1000 cad. And anyone using the HTS 12" 400w subwoofer. It's on sale now at best buy.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If this is in the wrong section I apologize. Its my first post.

  • And what would be my options if I went up to $1500 or $2000 for an avr.

Nice, I used to have that exact same speaker setup before going to RTi and now RTiA. I ran all those Monitor speakers on an HK AVR-140 receiver which always did well. These days the best replacement I've found for that era of HK receivers is Yamaha Aventage. An RX-A680, 780, or 880 would probably be a great fit for you.

Them Yamaha will do you good, Also look at the biggest Denon or Marantz you can afford.

If you can get SVS subs up there try to get one of the NSD sale subs https://www.svsound.com/pages/subwoofers a PB12NSD or the SB would do a lot better than the Polk HTS.

The Polk HTS is not a bad sub the SVS are just better, a lot better.
When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. Now I'm an adult and my kids tell me to turn it down.

At that budget get a separate amp for the speakers. An outlaw 5000 would work great coupled with pretty much anything from Yamaha, denon, or marantz that has preouts.

And yes, get the svs pb12-Nsd that is on sale. WAY better sub.
