Interested in NAD C272 AMP!

I've read amazing reviews about NAD products. So far I love my Yamaha RX-V1400 with its all in one performance but I want more depth and solid mid-range in music and movies. I've RT800i which are kind of power hungry and I think if I add 2-ch AMP and use 1400 as a pre/pro it will solve the problem. BTW I'm a 2-channel music listener and my main application is Contemporary Jazz, I listen to Paul Hardcastle and Hiroshima one of my favourites.

NAD C272 sells for CDN. $850 at Bay Bloor Radio Store in Toronto which is close to where I live. I'll get it soon probably in this week but before I get it I want your opinion guys.

NAD C272 looks very solid and has a great power supply. Here is a link with some specs on it. Need to know especially from NAD ownwers. What do you think?

I have the C270 and love it. Enough juice to drive my LSi9 to insane levels. But the quality of your pre will make quite a difference. All my 3 pre amps have their own sound when connected to the C270. Solid piece of equipment with a killer power supply. I checked out the tranny and caps. Big beautiful purple caps:).

I also purchased mine from Bay Bloor Radio along with a C160. They will go lower than retail. The salesguy I got was Sean. I just said "you guys go lower than retail right?" and he said yeah. The place I work is only 5mins away by foot.

I finally bought the NAD C272 2-ch AMP today for Bay Bloor Radio and got $50 discout. It was $850 and I got it for $800.

I hooked up my RT800i and Bi-Wired them to NAD. Wow! what a clean sound even my brother noticed the difference immediately. Clean and detailed sound and lot of bass from mid/bass drivers of RT800i. The mid-range is amazingly improved and sound has more depth and warmness. Great separation too.

NAD is rated at 4/8 ohm 2x150w all channels driven simultaneously! It is built like a tank and has a torridal transformer. It is also bridgeable to mono gives 300w 4/8 ohm. Looks beefy and almost the size of my receiver. Beautiful appearance and solid look.

You might want to check that...bridged the 270 I own is only rated for 8 ohms...and I see the 272 is the same...

From the C272 manual:

In Bridged Mode the NAD C 272 will produce approximately 300W into an 8 ohm loudspeaker. In this mode, the amplifier sections will react as though the speaker impedance has been halved. Low impedance speakers (under 8 ohms) are not recommended when using Bridge Mode, as these may cause the amplifier’s thermal cutout to operate if played at high levels.

Congrats. NAD amplification is awesome. Did you check out the size of the transformer in that thing? Are you planning to get the C162? I guess the price went up. My C160 and C270 were $700 a piece before discount. Enjoy the new toy.

I currently have a C320BEE. My next step is to upgrade to the C162/C272 combo. NAD just makes insanely good stuff for the price. Who cares if the color is repulsive and the remotes kinda suck? The sound is great!

I plan to eventually mate them with a pair of Vandersteen 2CE Sigs and a Marantz SA-8260. Great sound without breaking my bank account.

My Yamaha RX-V1400 has a feature called "DIRECT STEREO" now in this mode all the DSP circuitry shuts-off and display goes dim. In other receivers like Denon 3803 it is known as "PURE DIRECT".

I love "DIRECT STEREO" especially when I listen to more instrumental music or Contemporary Jazz. The guitars and drums and everything sounds the way it suppose to. No heavy bass from sub here. Natural sound and realistic.

My NAD C272 AMP gave a totally new life to my RT800i's those dual mid/bass drivers produce clean and tight bass with separation and imaging. This AMP has lot of power and it runs very cool. My RT800i are bi-wired to it and I'm running them at small setting.

If I've to buy separates in future I'll buy NAD stuff. It's a steal for what it sells. Unbelievable performance.
