I have a few questions regarding the momo10's. I just bought a 35th ann. edition Subaru Legacy sedan. Great car if you're wondering. I however need to add some low end Kick to the factory system(not the premium crap they offer, just the 4-speaker guy). I am interested in the 2104, for a vented box. I have seen bandpass box ported into the cabin of vehicles in some mags and in person, loved the idea.
-Is this possible/reasonable to do with such a woofer?
-I used Bass Box Pro v6 to model the box, and port sizes, it will fit neatly behind the rear seats.

It would be tuned for SQ at about 44Hz, and i will run about 100-150w. Will it sound any better or worse if i place the port from the box through the rear armrest "hole" from the trunk or the rear deck?
Some claim it will ruin the sound of the box, and some say it results in amazing sound.
Any thoughts?
P.s. if anyone wants to see the files, i can email in word or the actual Bassbox file(s).

um... "it would be tuned for sq..." and bandpass don't really go together. if you're dead-set on the port into the cabin idea, that'll work fine - all the output of the system comes through the port. perhaps consider ported instead? or better yet, for sq, sealed. bandpass is loud, but, even tuned for extension, it don't sound so hot. yes, a properly built bandpass can sound okay, but sealed is generally the way to go for sq. perhaps a sealed box in the trunk and a large port into the cabin? you get the look you're seeking, the sq of a sealed box, and the unrestricted passage of sound that a port offers.

I suppose i spoke too much, i was referring to the bandpass being ported into the cabin of the car, but i dont want a bandpass enclosure. Basically i want a vented/ported box, but instead of just having the port(s) being flush with one of the boxes surfaces, i hoped to extend it into the cabin(either through the rear armrest area or read deck - whichever is easiest). I am not a fan of sealed enclosures (trunk rattle is a **** - that i fear), and i am aiming at leaving the car relatively stock, i wont have too much time (and i hear it gets pricey as well) to get into dynamating.
-Im just wondering if this idea is feasible, and if it will give me what im expecting?
-Just the whole extended port for a vented box threw me off.
After reading alot of posts, i will look fwd to interacting with all you guys. :D

so you want a ported box with the port running to the rear deck?
that might actually cause more rattles because of the port going into the deck unless it will not be covered(like carpet from the back deck)
if you are running the port "clear" of any "obstructions," then yeah it is plausible, but are those MOMOs even supposed to be ported?
i suppose with only 150 watts its not going to hurt anything though

Well yes, the ports will be clear of any obstructions, just a hole to accomadate the port then made easy on the eyes with carpeting around and what have you. i just wanted to see if i could get a similar effect as those bandpass enclosures had goin. which was allowing the bass of the vented box to be played within the cabin for full enjoyment, as opposed to isolating the bass(from the vented box) to the trunk space.
Again, this is just an idea, so i would greatly appreciate any ideas or thoughts on the matter. Construction begins after College Graduation.
    Thanks again

i can envision one problem. since, at the tuning frequency, almost all of the output of a vented box comes from the vent, you're going to have a lot of that frequency coming in to the cabin. but, since the driver picks up as the vent's output falls off above the tuning frequency, it'll be playing more and more into the trunk as freq's rise. end result: lots of bass at Fb in the cabin, falling off exponentially from there as freq's rise. and none below, cause you've got a subsonic on there... right?

since the driver in a ported system does produce a lot of sound, i think you'll have the same rattle problems as w/ a sealed box. in any case, go to www.secondskin.com and get some of that. good stuff.

btw, my bad about the bandpass ramble above, i suppose i over-read.

I have been looking around the forum, and i havent fell upon any threads about trunk/trunk rattle. i know that this problem is case specific but how/what can one do to handle this annoyance. i know dynamat makes some kit for the license plate. But in general, how would i guard against any rattle?
As always any help is greatly appreciated.

its like dynamat, but better, and cheaper
but really its the only thing you can do...

for the license plate (and please do something like this, it's one of my pet peeves) you can just put rubber bushings between the plate and the trunk... if you use all 4 screws, each with a bushing (i think that's the word), that thing won't rattle a bit.
