Well it finally happened, I blew a tweeter due to lack of power

I've been powering my RTi12's with a UPA-7 for a while but am undergoing a move soon so I disconnected the amp and intend to sell it. I figured I'd hook up the RTi12's to my receiver (Yamaha Aventage RX-A780), which is a very decent receiver but the 12's are quite power hungry. Well, after like 2 days of some limited medium-loudish listening I blew one of my tweeters. So it is true, you can definitely break stuff due to lack of power. Time for me to order that new amp, oh, and a new tweeter. Speaking of which, anybody have an extra RTi12 tweeter handy? They seem to be hard to find since they have a different shape than all the other RTi tweeters.

Why does your sig say you have a 3080? Do you have two surround sound setups in your house both with RTi12's? One on the 3080/Rotel and one 780/Emotiva?

System is currently undergoing a transformation as I move. I actually have three setups - home office, living room, and home theater. RTi12's are currently in the living room and home theater is decommissioned for now.

You might want to check that tweeter by itself.

It's a well know fault in their crossover design where a resistor burns up, stopping the signal from reaching the tweeters. I'll bet a 1.00 it's a blown resistor. Let's hope it is anyway.

I have a pr. of the Rti12's where the resistors are blown in each one. Tweeters are silent for now until I replace those resistors.

The tweeters are still fine though.

Yep I already replaced both crossovers earlier this year (with RTiA9 crossovers) for that same reason. This time I swapped the tweeter and narrowed it down to one tweeter being bad.

    OK.
I think I remember you doing that now.

I think those tweeters are 70.00+ from Polk.

    I hope you find one.

    eBay?
