Added monos

I decided to go fully tube in my analogue system and added two McIntosh MC275 bridged for mono to my system. My preamp is the Mc C2300. Such a warm sounding presentation without the SS glare present at times.

What am I missing here ? Looks like 2 different bookies. Plus, why bridge the amps for bookies, can't be that hard to drive, no ?

Looks like a dust cover on the left speaker.

Good catch, looking closer I believe that's correct.

Great looking set up and I'll bet it sounds wonderful! Do the 275's get enough air in that setting or is there a fan in the back I'm wondering? I also spy a PS Audio regenerator and Ivan's handles on the C2300; very very nice.
  • Those green colored tubes must look real nice in dark room... I wonder how much heat those tubes are going to put out. Nonetheless, great looking setup.

I have one fan in back for each of the amps, plus the backs are open. And, yes, the left speaker still had the sock on it. I bridged the amps, well, because I could. The Sf EA IIIs are 88dB, so 75w per would drive them well, but 150w per will leave a bit more headroom for those times when I want to go to 11.

I have to admit, I thought I was going to miss the 45w of ss power, but I am not. Maybe if I had huge towers the 450w/ch would be missed but I rarely touched 45 on the meters. Anyway tube pre and tube amps is very sweet sounding. This is a fully analog sourced setup, for now. May add a SACD player later on. I had a Mc MCD500 previously but found I never used in this second system - honestly less than 100 hrs on the player when I sold it. Digital gets played downstairs.
