How did I miss this? For those who want to enjoy the "SDA Effect" without those big speakers! ;)

only 400 smackers... and it's got a tube in it.
And four LEDs.
Looks like it could be used to play "Simon" when not being used to enhance one's stereo hifi listening experience.

I mean, heck, Jim Fosgate designed it, so it's gotta be great, right?

source (for me): https://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/a-cool-new-toy-soundstage-expander.885322/

sample quotes from that thread:
There have been roughly a zillion such devices. As far as I know, they all work on the same principle - crossfeed of antiphase information, perhaps shaped by frequency. I haven't heard this one, but based on past experience with similar units, they're fun for a while, then you realize that things actually sound better in stereo.
not new, i've had a couple of them by different companies
carver did one too

if your using an ap like jriver theres one built into the software

Would "SDA affect" be closer to the truth? The SDA implementation affects the sound.

Irony is one of the mainstays of British humour (spelling for effect), but after 30 years in this wonderful country, I have come to the conclusion that (most) Americans don't appreciate it. Please, nobody get offended, :)

Ironically, it was (probably) Alanis Morissette's song Ironic that put the last nail in the US irony coffin. :#

    Don't you think?

    If affects the sound.....
But the effect of it is a wider sound stage.

Some balked at Calling SDA an "effect", but if one means the "Effect of the SDA speakers", so mostly all semantics.

But what is the effect of using it..... ;)

We owned a TV years ago, one of the earlier LCD Tvs, that had some built in sound enhancements.

Forget the actual name they used, but something like "SRS Wide sound" or something similar.

It could create the most wide images in sound I ever heard. Sounds would scare me at times, coming not from the TV itself but from far to my sides or even behind me at times.

I suspect that there are some recordings made that use this effect. I have a double CD of Bill Frisell’s East/West. Each was recorded live at different venues and by different recording engineers. On East, the stage is pretty standard, with images mostly across the front wall where you’d expect them to be. Sort of from northwest to northeast, if you will. On West, however, the stage seems to take up the whole room. It’s fascinating for a while, but then it gets a little old. Anyone have similar examples to share?

    I wouldn’t buy it.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
