THanks in advance
I bought a pair of PolkAudio "Monitor Series" speakers at a estate sale. They really dont have much identification of than the serial # (4 41918) and it says "monitor Series"
They have a 6" woofer and a 1" tweeter.
the inputs on the back are spring-loaded-clamp type of speakers.
Well, they dont seem to be working properly. The speakers are not physically damaged in any way. They do play but the sound is "light", no bass and no volume to speak of. These things should be singin'.
I have taken them apart and bypassed the inputs by hooking the speaker wire up directly up to the speaker, but still no luck.
I am using a 400 watt pioneer reciever so they are getting pushed. I just dont understand.
Please, if anyone has suggestions, I'd love to get these guys running.

Hi, and welcome to the forum!
If you've taken the speaker(s) apart and made connections directly to the drivers, and they still don't seem right (of course they won't sound "right" out of the enclosure), then you might have damaged drivers.
If you'll give Polk a call at 1-800-377-7655, they'll help you identify the speakers and figure out what's wrong with them.
Good luck!
