SL-3000 as a replacement to SL-2500?

Is the SL-3000 a drop-in replacement of SL-2500?

    If you are going to be buying tweeters I'd strongly encourage you to consider the RD-0198's. If you already have a pair of sl3000's laying around then yes you can use them in place of the sl2500 if you have a blown sl2500. You would need to replace both sl2500's with the pair of sl3000.

    When I changed out my rta15tl tweeters with 198's I did one & then listened to it. Shut it off quick & did the other. Wow what a upgrade. Money well spent

    Yeah I hear a lot of good things about RDOs, but prefer not to spend the money now - need to do the roof. There's a guy who has few 3000s (apparently from an SDA uprade); I'm going to buy 2 to replace a dead 2500. If he asks too high a price then I'll consider buying new 198s. Anything to be aware of buying used 3000s? Any fakes floating around?

    No need to take a chance on used tweeters (198's are much better than SL3000's). Total cost for two brand new 198's including delivery is about a hundred bucks. Then sell the old tweeter on eBay and recoup some cash.

    Never heard of a fake SL3000, however, they're at least 20 years old by this time.
