Just posted to The New Yorker online -- new interview with Linda Ronstadt. See link below, although I don't know if it'll work for nonsubscribers.

I watched her interview by 60 minutes earlier this year, very good it was. You can probably find it online. The best way to predict the future is to invent it.

Always loved Linda's music. Huge part of our life soundtrack from when I fell in love with my wife (33rd anniversary yesterday). The first night I spent with her, Hasten Down the Wind, Simple Dreams, and Prisoner in Disguise played several times on an old stackable record player.
Spring break at the beach + Woman of My Dreams + Linda + Beer = Happiness. I'm as lucky as they come. Listening to Hasten Down the Wind and watching the waves now with wife humming along. Bliss.

Oh I'm a big fan of her Spanish music, being from Arizona I'm around it a lot. Doesn't hurt that my wife is from the same area Linda was raised.Just a dude doing dude-ly things

A year ago last Spring I made an epic road trip from Seattle out to No Carolina/TN, and back (6400 miles) visiting old Army buddies and cities (Nashville, Chattanooga, Huntsville (Space program), Denver, Las Vegas, etc) and some tourist attractions. One of my best stops was Muscle Shoals, AL. If you haven't seen this documentary film then you really need to. Anyway, here's a pic in the early days of Linda recording at Muscle Shoals Sound Studios. BTW, FAME Studio is the other reknown music recording studio in the area, and WAS the founding studio that introduced the world to the 'Muscle Shoals' sound.

The Temptations Lyrics
"My Girl"
I've got sunshine on a cloudy day
When it's cold outside I've got the month of May
I guess you'd say
What can make me feel this way?
My girl (my girl, my girl)
Talkin' 'bout my girl (my girl)
I've got so much honey the bees envy me
I've got a sweeter song than the birds in the trees
Well, I guess you'd say
What can make me feel this way?
My girl (my girl, my girl)
Talkin' 'bout my girl (my girl)
Hey hey hey
Hey hey hey
Ooooh
I don't need no money, fortune or fame
I've got all the riches, baby, one man can claim
Well, I guess you'd say
What can make me feel this way?
My girl (my girl, my girl)
Talkin' 'bout my girl (my girl)
I've got sunshine on a cloudy day
With my girl
I've even got the month of May
With my girl
Talkin' 'bout
Talkin' 'bout
Talkin' 'bout
My girl
Ooooh
My girl
As long as I can talk about my girl...written by Smokey Robinsin & Ronnie White of the then " The Miracles" produced for the Temps. Great tune.

Linda Ronstadt will be awarded the Kennedy Center Honors later this year. She said she will try to attend the presentation in Washington DC.
Btw, Linda's "Cry Like A Rainstorm...." is a fabulous album. One of her biggest selling albums and multiple Grammy winner.

A rerun of a 2013 interview with her by Terry Gross is on Fresh Air even as I am typing this.

I dunno -- there're some intriguingly complex people here (and I mean that in a positive way). After six decades, I've gotten a little better at not pre-judging people. Only a little... but a little.
