FXi50 & f/x500i
What is the difference between these two speakers? From what I can tell there is a difference in weight. Other than that the specs seem like they are the same.
Also what is a good price for a pair of FXi50's that are used and scratched up, but work fine? Your feedback is appreciated!
Thanks,
David

The 50 has the silk tweeter, and the 500 has the tri-lam. As for price, look at either Audiogon, or Ebay and you should get a ballpark, but I would guess in the $200 range. There are two ways to argue with women. Both of them are wrong.

Thanks! Now for another dumb question? Which is better the Tri-lam? If so why?Beer on tap is great, until the keg runs dry and the liqour store is closed!:D

No problem. The next question isn't dumb, it is dangerous. Totally depends on who you ask. Best I can do is to say listen for yourself. I know that won't be easy, as they are past product lines, but maybe a fellow polkie has a few laying around near you so you can listen. I personally prefer the silk, but not by a lot. Sorry to be of no help here, but it's all personal preference. There are two ways to argue with women. Both of them are wrong.

Thank you again! I guess I will just have to see what I think since I bought a pair of FXi50's off of Ebay for $147.00 shipped. I allready have a CS400 not the CS400i, and I beleive that is the difference between those 2 speakers. I love the CS400 it actually seems to out power my RT10 mains. I just hope these FXi50's are a good complement to my RT10's and CS400.
Once again thanks for the input.Beer on tap is great, until the keg runs dry and the liqour store is closed!:D -
I exchanged my 55i's with the fxi50 and prefer the fxi for surround duty. I also have a 400 and 400i and like them both. I'll use the 400 for channel 6 in my HT with no worries and the 400i is the front center.
sounds good to me.
