    DS--

Now I'm confused--when I set up my system my friends said "oh you can't connect those speakers with bare wire--you need 'connecters!'" --so off I went to spend money on another hidden feature...

Sounds like you are saying banana plugs reduce the impedence to the speakers in some way?!? --but won't "bare" wire eventually do the same since its exposed to dust and air??

When I looked for "connectors" there were plenty to chose from and plenty of confusion for me of what would make the best "connection". I'm currently using banana plugs--mainly because I was told its the "proper" thing to do--they're easier to connect, better contact, etc, etc...

Will I get "different sound" if I went bare wire or switched to a different type of connector???

    Thanks, :D

ATC, what kind of resistor exactly, do you have a link by any chance? I remember seeing something on here about rings you put around your tweeters to improve imaging. Is that what you're talking about?

As you may have read from my thread on better cables in the connections category, I just hooked up some Premium II cables from Bettercables.com to my mains and center and the sound is noticably improved. I was using the standard Monster XP with bare wire connections, but the better cables come terminated with bananas. The sibilance is definitely better, although still present. Definitely able to live with it though. I just thought I'd chime in, because for me, banana connectors did not make sibilance worse, but with the high end cable I don't have the bare wire option anymore to see if I could elminate it completely. I don't think the connectors make too much difference in sound quality, but certainly the quality of the cable does.

That's what I'm saying. I've also heard that Kimber Kable wires can make the sound on the brighter side (I've never heard those on my system to say for sure, just what I've heard) but diff. better speaker wires and cables will make a big diff. in the over sound.
