Installing in a wood wall

I am getting ready to install a center speaker in a stud/drywall wall with wood facing. If I take the wood facing and drill lots of small holes in a pattern (like an octagon) in front of each speaker (tweeter and each mid-range) will that give me good acoustics or will it still sound muffled? I'm hoping to find someone that has experienced this. TIA

It will sound muffled. Ideally, you want nothing covering the front of the speaker. Also take into consideration if the speaker is rear ported or front ported. Rear ported will be even worse.HT SYSTEM-

Parts express sells in wall speaker grills if I recall... Fwiw- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

I have noticed a difference in sound just removing the grills that came with my 2.3's. I used to take em off and put them at the first reflection points on the side wall and that was noticeable too.________________
