Hey guys, in 1993 while in college, I bought a set of Polk SDA CRS speakers for my apartment and fell in love with the sound that SDA's are capable producing. Fast forward 26 years and I still have those speakers today. Last week I acquired a set of SDA 2's, not entirely sure which generation they are, but they have 2 tweeters, 3 Drivers, and a passive radiator. Now to the issue, I noticed that they sounded good, but not great. After some investigating, I found the right channel, outer tweeter was not working, so I swapped the suspect tweeter with its neighbor and it worked. So I hooked up my meter to both tweeters and they both ohmed out at around 6.5. So I started researching what else could cause this and am leaning towards a bad polyswitch. I don't know what a polyswitch looks like, where to find/buy one, or whether to just bypass it altogether. Is there an easy way to fix this issue? Thanks so much in advance for your input guys

Outer tweeter is dimensional tweeter. You're better off with it quiet. Most of use with those tweeters disable them. You'll notice that Polk dropped them from future generations of speakers.Post edited by pitdogg2 on

Really? Should I disable the one in the other channel as well? What's the best way to disable it? How well do you think an Adcom GFA 535 will drive those speakers?

Unhook it and tape off the wire ends inside so they don't touch anything and short. I do not know how that adcom will work those speakers are four ohm and more than likely dip lower.
