So my objective at the beginning of this other than the replacement of the A/C was to see/determine what after replacing now all of the appliances and pool equipment and lighting over the past 4 years to see what I could reduce my consumption by. Last month which was pretty hot by FL standards I spent about $6.25 / day on avg for electricity. If i can save $2.00 per day after just changing out my a/c keeping it at the same comfort levels. I think $4/day to run a house in FL in the summer with a pool is pretty cool (pun intended)

I left for vacation for 8 days over the 4th and turned my AC off. When I got back, it froze up trying to get back down to where we normally set it at 72 deg. Bad idea, next time maybe set it around 80.

I'm in that boat now. We've compromised at 76 which is too chilly for me. Thermastat goes to 80 when she leaves for work.

I've found keeping the A/C at 74 to be just right. 70 is way too cold, I keep my heat around 70 in the winter and would never walk around in summer clothes in February. JMHO, of course.
