And then the neighborhood will start exploding with illegal fireworks. I live in a mixed nationality neighborhood that is predominantly Hispanic. For whatever reason, they care less about Cinco De Mayo (snooze), but go crazy on the 4th of July. In fact, it has been that way for the last month, but tonight will be berserkers. LOL

When we lived in MT they were illegal, but as with your neighborhood, that didn’t stop people. Law enforcement treated it with the same deference they treated marijuana violations - if you can enjoy without being an idiot, you’ve got some room to run...

Fireworks are illegal in VA, too (I thought we were the only ones), and it doesn't stop people here, either. Then again, pretty much anything fun is illegal in VA, unless the state/city gets a cut of it.

I remember fireworks were fun when I was in 6th grade. I suppose they still are, but yeah, I'd feel like a bit of a D launching them these days out of consideration for my neighbors and their families and pets.

Wonder how many mortar-in-the-face injuries we tallied this year...

Man I wish I got to take part in some Fireworks (mostly legal in Az). Instead my cat got her tail caught in a door (I assume the AC kicked in and shut it) which scared her and she ripped some of her tail off. I had to go drop $1000 at the vet for surgery to fix her tail then come home and clean up the blood. Just in time for a quick beer, tell America Happy Birthday then go to bed.

She is doing good today. Just relaxing around and thinks her bandaged up tail (which is now 3 inches shorter) is a toy. Man cats are tough SOBs.

As for last night, one could swear it was a war zone around here. I rather enjoyed it though as I relaxed in my chair on the deck sipping my root beer. B)

I enjoy the fireworks on the 4th, but around here they started a few months ago, and will go on for a few more months. At least it won't be as intense as it was last night, but is still annoying.

We have a door that gets blown closed by the AC when it turns on, I'm guessing that's what he's talking about. it closes the door quite quickly as well. :)

The warzone was in our front yard, we shot off a lot of fireworks. Only one of them went sideways and blew up right on top of our house, which is one less than last year! :D

I'm not smart so I'll let reddit talk for me lol

"Your AC has an intake and one or more outputs/registers. There's a powerful fan sucking air from the intake and pumping it to the registers. That creates a low pressure zone around the intake, and high pressure around the register(s). The air flows from high pressure to low pressure. If the door is between the intake and one or more registers, there's airflow and a pressure gradient across the door, and whoosh Slam!"

    Sorry if this derailed anything!

Maybe for you, but I celebrate Independence Day year-round, each time I raise the flag in my front yard.

Sounds like a poor design by someone. If the door slams shut the intake isn't pulling air from the room behind the door and therefore affecting the airflow from the output. None of my doors even quiver when the AC kicks on. Might I suggest a door stop to prevent the issue at your house and perhaps save what's left of your poor puddy tat's tail.
