Cruised down to my local Best Buy for something to do and hey have the new Punch amps in. Man these things are freaking huge! Theyre about 6" thick!! Not really but they might as well be. I guess I can scratch them for my truck. My little Alpines almost rub the bottom of the back seat now so I doubt Id even be able to get my back seat down with these monsters. Plus Im sure those Fosgates will put off a ton more heat than my little amps do now and I dont need my back seat to catch on fire whilst driving down the road!

The really cool thing tho is that the RF logo has 2 semi circle lines around it and they pulse with the beat of the music like a spectrum analyzer. At first I thought "what a piece! This thing is the demo and the lights are screwed up." Then I realized it was supposed to do that.

All in all its a pretty damn good looking amp. Its just too big! It sucks having no room for amps!

Eh, I looked em up on Crutchfield and checked out their dimensions and they arent that much thicker than my Alpines so maybe it was just my imagination. They looked pretty damn big though!

Well, all the punch series Look big, it's the design, and makes it look like theres a huge base, then fins on top of that.. in reality, it's just the same as any other cast heatsink.

I hope so cause Im leaning, real hard, toward getting a pair of Punches for my set-up. I would either go with the Punch 3002 and the 3001 which would be $450 for both or go with a pair of Punch 5002 for $700 a set. Id love to have the extra power but it takes so long for me to save up the coin that it would be months just to save up the $100 difference between the 3002 and the 5002 even though Id like to have the extra power Im not sure I want to wait much longer. I bought my Alpine amps as an "interim" set up til I could get the cash together to get some powerhouse amps. Well that was back in last July! Im tired of waiting!!! I need more power!!

I shouldve seen that coming! LOL ;)

Im not looking to get into the 200 watt per channel range, thats your territory! LOL

A solid 100 RMS per channel will be plenty for me. That will push most any speaker (except for the power hungry MM6) to its best and provide all the DB Im after.

Yes I admit I may have been possibly mistaken on my earlier recommendations of 50 rms being enough. :(

It all happened when I bi amped my Momo 6x9s. Instead of getting 40 total watts they now get 40 to the tweeter and 40 to the mid. I thought it would just make it a little louder but I was utterly amazed at how much more detailed and clearer the sound was. And the funny thing is that its not any louder!!! Just 3 times better!

Holy **** that brings back some memories!!

The very first stereo component I bought was a Sony 50 watt equalizer from R&R back in about 1989 in a 86 Ranger! I still had the factory head unit and speakers. I eventually bought a set of the MTX Road Thunder boxes with an 8" sub and a horn tweeter in each box and put them behind the seat! Boy I thought I was the man with all that! Damn I cant believe thats been 15 freaking years!! Jesus!
