Best In-Ceiling speakers for Atmos

Hi guys,

Currently running a pair of LSiM707s, 706, 4x 703s with 4 upfiring atmos speakers (klipsch and pioneer) for a 7.1.4 set up. Looking to upgrade a pair of the atmos up-firing speakers to in-ceiling speakers instead and ideally want it to match with my LSiMs. What would you guys recommend? It looks like 80 F/X-LS, 900-LS, 700-LS and 500-LS are all timbre-matches. Does a specific one work better as atmos speaker? Would love everyone's input, thanks in advance!

Any of those will work fine.

I went from MC80 to 80F/X RT. Difference is the F/X seem to spread out the sound more as in less local sound

Thanks for the feedback! I've went ahead and ordered the cheapest pair I could find online (Polk 700-LS). Very excited to have these set up to finally get some sound really coming from above.

    Good call.

I tried the bounce speakers and the elevation ones on the bedroom HT both sounded no where close to the in ceiling speakers.

Hey mrloren! I had an installer come in and cut up my ceiling. We realize the 700-LS is way too deep for my ceiling as there is a water pipe less than a feet up. However, the 80F/X-LS should fit nicely in there. I'm looking at the manual for the 80F/X-LS and notice there's a button to choose "Solid" or "Diffuse", which one would you say is best for using as Atmos? Would it be solid, since I have the back upfiring speakers still or should it still be a "diffuse" effect since they're used for atmos? Please let me know what you think, thanks!

My 80F/X RT do not have that switch. mine are RTI series while the LSI series has the solid/defuse switch.

I just realized that, thanks for responding! I'll use the "solid" setting as per mdaudioguy's guidance
