Spikes/Outriggers Question

Been trying out a set of wharfedale reva 4's and kef q950's for a few days.

The reva spikes are attached directly to the cabinet and the q950 spikes are attached via outriggers.

As I sit here looking at these things, my mind is stuck on the reva spikes into the cabinet then coupled to the floor 1,2,3 cabinets, spikes and floor.

The q's 1,2,3,4 cabinets, riggers, spikes and floor.

Is there any sonic difference between the 2 designs?

I doubt it's that big of a deal if any at all, just curious.

Thanks all

I never gave that any thought, but now that I have I can't see it making a difference.

I've always considered outriggers important for narrow speakers, a wider foot print. I can't see one sounding better than the other

Logical. For mechanical stability, which infers natural frequency. Now you got me thinking. Dang, I'm on vacation!

I've read up a bit on coupling/decoupling and yea, that was a goofey question :s

I just need to close my eyes and focus on how things sound for now.

BTW, both sets of speakers are slowly breaking in. Each seem to offer certain qualities I like.

FYI, at the start, both sets were harsh on the highs/mids, sterile on the lows.
Sound field on toe'd speakers has been a tweak here tweak there thing.

I think the whole visual aspect of toe'd speakers are playing tricks on my mind as I'm used to my SDA's being straight forward along with such a different sound of the Polks.

Got about 45-50 hrs on each set so far, will see how it goes once I hit about 100 hrs.

I've made arrangements to also try some PSB's and some Monitor Audio's.
