Yea should have ran to buy it. Unless it was trashed the 565 is second to the 750 for adcom and a darn good pre for 150.00. They routinely go for much more on the auction site.
I should have, kinda regretting it now, I knew they were good but I didn't realize just how good until now!

Let me start looking around for a box. I stupidly got rid of the original box and it's such a nice player (and one of the early made in Japan versions, before they switched production on this line to Vietnam/China) so I'd hate for it to get damaged in transit.

I have a NAD 1155 somewhere around here (came with my original SDA SRS pair). I recall it had a scratchy volume pot - I can dig it out, pop the cover and give it a basic servicing (maybe even a recap), deoxit the volume pot (Actually ALL the pots, which I’m pretty sure will fix the scratchy), and send it your way - no charge.

The CD player has arrived, and HOLY CR@P DOES THIS THING SOUND GOOD! Super clear and it adds a whole new level of musicality. I don't know how to describe this part, but there is less noise, but I didn't realize it was there before? I haven't noticed it until it is gone.
I've only spun one CD and I can already tell you what I'll be doing for the rest of the day! Listened to Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and it sounded really incredible. The piano in the title track has never sounded quite right to me, but oh boy does it now! And the brass instruments in "Keep the Customer Satisfied" and "Why Don't You Write Me" are totally amazing.
It also helped to get rid of a lot of that midbass bloat I had mentioned at the beginning of this thread, which I had started to fix but never cured. Still not quite gone, but I think that the sub may be crossed over a little too high, I'll check on that.
