I need a little re-education

OK, Don't beat me up too bad but as a newbie here I need some help with brand choice. I've read a lot of the threads here but have never come across any comparisons to Infinity. As a former big box employee I remember that I really liked the sound of them. They're very flat usually with little bass but thats why they invented subs. I also liked the CMMD drivers as they didn't resonate untill frequencies well above the cross over (something like 10Khz for a 51/4"" mid range). I also liked Polk as an all around good value. I know there are lots of other comparable brands but these two are of particular interest to me as I can still get them 50-60% off retail (NEVER burn relationships with product reps).

Anyways I'm just looking for opinions and there aren't any Infinity dealers where I live that have a clue about speakers.

What are you looking to do? Set up a HT? 2 CH rig? What kind of budget?? What kind of volume levels?

You need to be a little more specific...

    Ok,

To start I'm looking to keep my HK AVR430 receiver. And the budget is probabaly $800 - $2000 cnd (about $32-$56 US:D ) for speakers. This will all depend on my ability to sell the budget to my wife at the time of purchase. I have some good contacts as I mentioned before so I should be able to get a good price on the equipment or I would consider quality used gear.

As for the usage it will probably be 60/40 HT/music but the music is more important t me.

I would laso appreciate any thoughts on the CMMD technology from Infinity as I have seen a few reviews. I would probably be looking at the Alpha line from Infinity or the Rti from Polk. Unless of course there is something else I'm currently not considering.

    Thanx
    Nathan
