I was wondering would the 704c give me clearer dialogue when watching TV and movies than the S30 which I use with my S55's. My wife and I both have trouble understanding the dialogue on some movies and shows and yes we're old. Also would it be too much of a mismatch and sound bad with music?

BTW I don't have room for 706c in my entertainment center were my S30 fits.

If you can get it from a vendor that will accept returns like Amazon go for it. Have you tried bumping up the DB on the center on your AVR?
When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. Now I'm an adult and my kids tell me to turn it down.

Yes, I have tried increasing the DB on the center with my AVR. It helps some, but I was wondering if the A4 would improve it.

I know you like the A6 with your S60's, but the A6 won't fit in the space I have available.

If it'll fit, get a used cs400i. Very clear dialogue, excellent bass and dynamic response.

    I'd go for a 704 way before a CSi-A4. I had the CSi-A4 for a bit. It's a decent center but I think the S30 is better

My wife and I have the same problem with dialog. So much so that we began turning on closed captioning. It was a bit obtrusive at first to have the subtitles on the screen, but soon it became second nature for us to read the dialog as needed. We got totally used to it after a couple of weeks and no longer notice it at all.

I got it in late today. It's not as boomy as the S30. The dialog is also clearer when listening to my TV. Needless to day it's not broken in so it should only get better. I won't be sending it back.

I need to run YPAO again on my 2070 and listen to some music with it after tuning and compare it to running just stereo. Also see how it compares to my S30 when running it as a 3.1 setup listening to music.

I have the 704 in an lsim HT setup. It’s wonderfully natural and smooth sounding. You made a good choice.

Well after listening to music for a few days in 3.1 mode it sounds more natural with clearer highs and the dialog continues to improve. Very pleased with the 704.

I just wish the 705's were a little smaller so I could replace my S55's with them, but they wouldn't pass the WAF as she thinks the S55's are already too big.

Do you have a garage and decent tools? Stands are easy to build. Lots of diy guides online, and you can stain or paint to match your decor and her liking. And it’s fun to build something on you own!

Yes I do, but she hates the looks of stands. She likes the looks of tower speakers much better, just towers that aren't too big or tall. Thanks for the ideas anyway.

well what I am suggesting is something like this: 8auzvhtp9qt7.jpeg

    from this thread: https://www.avsforum.com/forum/155-diy-speakers-subs/1240168-diy-speaker-stands-my-speakers.html

But you could build them the same width and depth as the speakers themselves. So in the picture just make is so the stands have the same dimensions as the tops and base, or perhaps make a slightly larger base, basically making looking them like a nice pair of towers...

I talked about doing something like this with her several months ago. She wasn't warm to the idea at all.

We are probably going to sell our house and move to a one story house. I'll be looking for a main room where I can put bigger towers and she won't object to the additional height. Our main room now makes it hard to blend in a large speaker.

    Thanks again.
