Found this Sony tape recorder at an estate sale with a box full of tapes.
Didn't pay much attention to the tapes until today and discovered they are recordings of Apollo & Gemini space missions, discussions on Vietnam, etc.
Jimmy Carter is in the machine giving a speech on energy.
Player took a crap after I did some rewinding I'll have to check out what's going on with it before I can do more listening.

What's the model number of the Sony? It's not one I recognize right off the bat.
Are those all 5 inch reels (probably 600 or 900 foot tapes)?
I reckon that its rubber parts need refreshing (possibly replacement), although it could be as simple as needing a good CLA (cleaning, lubrication, adjustment).
The single-motor Sony decks are reasonably straightforward as such things go
The motor run capacitors sometimes bite the dust on old tape decks.

Oh, I looked at the full sized photo -- looks like a 3" reel tape recorder(??).
Looks like it might be the "model 905A" shown in this ad (??) -- number 5.
