This very intriguing looking gizmo got me thinking. Anyone use one of these?
They even have an intellectual property patent, (US Patent 5,740,255).

Abstract
The method for comparing the sonic characteristics of two pair of audio interconnect cables includes the step of, in a first instance, switching, electrically connecting and transferring the analog electrical signals from an audio source to an amplifier driving a pair of speakers (sometimes speakers in a headphone set) via a pair of reference interconnect cables (sometimes referred to as a reference cable set). In a second instance, the method includes switching, electrically connecting and transferring the analog electrical signals from the audio source to the amplifier and speakers via a test interconnect cables set. The designation of cables as "reference" or "test" cables is not important. The steps of switching, electrically connecting, and transferring the analog signals to and from the reference cables and the test cables are conducted with substantially identical electrical losses and electrical signal distortion. One type of cable comparator may compare a test cable set to a short, direct connect, low loss electrical channel in the comparator. The interconnect cable comparator includes a switch assembly having signal input terminals, switchable cable output terminals, signal output terminals, and switchable cable input terminals. The cable comparator includes high quality RCA female ports or jacks directly coupled to the terminals of the switch assembly. The interconnect cable comparator reduces and eliminates, if possible, electrical losses and electrical signal distortion between electrical channels established through the signal input ports, the switch assembly, the four pair of interconnect cable ports and the signal output ports.
And, they have coined the phrase "cable polygraphs". Interesting.

Agreed. Let's see the inside of it.

All of the things in bold can have a potential influence on the sound, however slight.
I understand what they're going for here, but bottom line is that it's something else in the signal path.

Wireworld Inc. has released information their Cable Comparator Disc. Wireworld believes wholeheartedly in the scientific and analytical approach instead of snake oil and marketing hype. The Cable Comparator Disc CD has seventeen tracks of the same song. Fifteen of these tracks were made by feeding the analog audio signal through a selection of 1 meter interconnects. Six of the cables are Wireworld's brand new Series 5 models and the others are well-known competitors. The snippet you found says it all and now I know they even bothered to file their patent. I know a little about patents and how they are worded and already spent too much time reading theirs. It was total BS. All they actually claimed is if you put a switch between 4 different interconnects you can switch between them and it will add the same amount of distortion to all four. So you can compare how the interconnects sound.
What the light bulb does is anyone's guess. Not in the claimed as a working part so it is purely for looks.
The thing about patents is they don't have to have any actual utility or value. A patent just stops other people from selling what you cover for about 17 years. I was wondering why they patented something than anyone could make with a simple multi pole switch..........At least that was what I was thinking before you posted about the CD they were giving away as as a marketing tool. They can say "our product was tested using a patented method" (A BS Patented method). Purely marketing hype but I am sure some people bought their cables because of it. -
Interesting comments @delkal I agree with the patent criteria. I myself have a patent that was supposed to be released on one of our vehicles, but due to a variety of reasons (dang bean counters) never made it to production!
