And an Ortofon SPU.

Too bad it's not a Fairchild

Can’t be any worse than the repetitive same old **** at Axpona. Seemed like every other room had the same playlist. -

That’s because the audiophiles can compare similar tunes, but if Munich plays European music...I’ll be lost for comparison

Yes, went in 2017. Made my head spin. Room after room of the usual suspects and tons of European companies I've never heard of.
Magico's were all the rage and did sound nice but my daughter and I fell in love with Acoustic Zen Crescendo mk II speakers. Can't remember the company but fabulous tubed gear, approx. $20K+ worth from a Japanese maker, making them sing. Met Robert Lee and he was a pleasure to speak with. The Crescendo's still haunt me and are, so far, the only speaker I've seriously considered replacing the 1.2tl's with. Crescendos were $17K but can be had on the used market for $7-9K.
Concerning playlists...no, not all Euro techno. The usual Jazz, classical, pop, etc. Don't remember anything you're alluding to. Of course, Acoustic Zen is US based, but Mr. Lee was playing "The Peppery Man" by Natalie Merchant and it's now on my demo playlist.
Also, lots of young and old audiophiles in attendance. It was packed the entire weekend. High end audio is alive and well in Europe.➀Speakers: Polk1.2tl's (Uber Mods) ➁Pre/Amp/DAC: PS Audio BHK Signature & 250, DirectStream ➂Cables/IC's: MIT S1Bi-Wire/S1 Balanced +Avel Lindberg 1000VA "Dreadnought" ➃Power Conditioner: PS Audio P15 Power Plant ➄Power Cords: Core Power Technologies Gold, DH Labs Power Plus DIY w/Neotech NC-P301 & P311ends ➅Streaming: Roon ROCK on wifi'd NUC, TP-Link WAP, & Uptone EtherREGEN, AfterDark, Emperor Double Crown Clock, Black Modernize LPS, PS Audio AirLens⟿Ω☯☥☮⟿🔊♩♪♫♬♩♪♫♬♩♪♫♬ -
Plus....Munich was responsible for my first serious $$$ purchase. It was the catalyst for my PS Audio Directstream DAC and has led to the BHK Signature pre amp and BHK 250 power amp. Had I not gone I'd probably still be listening to my Adcom GFP-750, Parasound HCA-1500II and Oppo BDP-105. Respectable but I'm at a much better level. Albeit, much poorer...LOL.➀Speakers: Polk1.2tl's (Uber Mods) ➁Pre/Amp/DAC: PS Audio BHK Signature & 250, DirectStream ➂Cables/IC's: MIT S1Bi-Wire/S1 Balanced +Avel Lindberg 1000VA "Dreadnought" ➃Power Conditioner: PS Audio P15 Power Plant ➄Power Cords: Core Power Technologies Gold, DH Labs Power Plus DIY w/Neotech NC-P301 & P311ends ➅Streaming: Roon ROCK on wifi'd NUC, TP-Link WAP, & Uptone EtherREGEN, AfterDark, Emperor Double Crown Clock, Black Modernize LPS, PS Audio AirLens⟿Ω☯☥☮⟿🔊♩♪♫♬♩♪♫♬♩♪♫♬

I think the audiophile musical canon is pretty much universal
I mean, it's possible that European and Asian golden ears spend gobs of lucre on, say, original pressings of, say, Melanie and The Archies and Bobby Goldsboro -- but, I don't think so...
-
All I know is I was so sick of hearing the Pink Panther theme for the 6th time on Friday alone. I know that I was not alone in that.

Doc, where the hell did you dig up those three? I think I had surpressed that stuff never to rear its ugly head again lol. -

One of the northern New England vacuum tube hifi gurus likes to start auditions with Bert Kaempfert and His Orchestra's version of his tune A Swingin' Safari on LP. It's a delightfully syncopated tune, and also a delightful recording. Great on big ol' high-sensitivity theatre type loudspeakers.
If any of you is as old as I (and still on the sunny side of the dirt!), you may remember this tune as the theme to the original verson of The Match Game on TV.

Hey Doc, I clicked on the link, the wife walked by, and she knew exactly what the song was. She immediately called out the Match Game.

All I remember about Match Game is that they were all smoking cigarettes, oh the humanity! -
Since 1881, it got to be good! -
Mark, there's a Mr. Gene Rayburn for you on line 1.
-
... and...
high-res (ish) audio/video, too, now -- apparently.
I have not yet evaluated this link (video), so caveat emptor (so to speak)

Start auditions with Bert Kaempfert and His Orchestra's version of his tune A Swingin' Safari on LP. Been listening to Bert since the 50’s, I never tire of great sounds.. Pink Panther not so great, to monotonous. It does have com pent sound ranges, me thinks. Some final words,
"If you keep banging your head against the wall,
you're going to have headaches."
