Looking for living room furniture. We found the couches but need end tables, a coffee table, accessories, that sort of stuff. We are looking for dark wood, classic, traditional style. Nothing modern or Ikea'ish.

Ron,
Believe it or not, I'm going to start an Internet sales buisness for stuff just like your describing. It will be imported stuff... cast iron, woods (like mahagony), marble, and accent stuff. How much of a hurry are you in?
I just need to get a digital camera and build a web site. I'll have some pretty neat stuff, but the shipping will be from new jersey. That's something else I'm gonna have to work out. -
Buy one of those fancy decorator magazines. Investigate the ones in the back of the magazine. I saved $4K on a dining room set going this way. I found what I liked at a store the ordered over the phone and had it shipped from North Carolina.

I gotta disagree with the walmart deal......
I paid a lil over 300 shipped for my av rack, tv stand and desk.....
Metal construction, tv stand and av rack with a high gloss finish, and the desk with a textured black finish -- very nice build quality for the price.....I really like them for the price...
I would check out EBay........lots of deals on there if you dont mind traveling- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

Brett,
It's not that hard to find dining room tables that are $4k+. By the time you add 8-12 chairs, and a hutch and maybe a sideboard, server and some curio cabinets if you have a large dining room you can be in the $20k+ range. The differences between prices in local furniture stores even when the merch is on sale and buying direct from places in NC can be 40% or more.
Ron,
I have done business with these guys several times in the past for both dining room & living room furniture most recently 3-4 years ago with no problems.

A lot of these places want all cash up front, some at time of order and then the rest at time of shipment. Their policies are among the better I've run across ... i.e. half in advance the rest upon delivery.
You are not going to find much at their web site as my experience with most places like this is you need to be pretty well prepared with what you want i.e. manufacturer, model #'s etc. If you don't already know what style(s) you're interesting in then this is probably best discovered by going off to the stores to see different styles, then getting catalogues from manufactures or surfing their websites, then maybe going back to the stores to see the lines that you've seen in catalogues or websites of what you like, then ordering.
I did have a problem with one piece in one shipment that arrived this way. They put it back on their truck and took it away and shipped a new one, no questions.
The dining room furniture I have now which I posted some dark pictures of in your other thread "No More White Walls" contain pieces from the Claridge line of Century Furniture and in particular this table and chairs ...

Yep. That's what happens when you get married. You start doing stupid stuff. Think of the HT system I could've had. This looks like the table and chairs I have. Throw in the side board and a china hutch and viola! $6g's down the tubes. -
Not looking for dining room stuff, yet. Here's a pic of the type / style of coffee table / end tables I'd like. Just want them in an extremely dark brown or a light black with a distressed look.
Thanks for the links I will check into them and see what I can find. We would like to get everything (orderd) within the next couple of weeks as it usually takes 6-8 more to get it once ordered.If...

I'm all with that... 3 months ago I bought the wife a new bedroom set from Thomasville that we still don't have. She is going ****! I can understand the pain felt by manufactures these days but to charge me 6.5K for something I don't have is very irratating.

I made that mistake too. Ugh! Custom couch and chairs. All matching of course.:( I never go there anymore. It's a disaster waiting to happen. -

Judging by the feet and the drawer pulls, that appears to be an 18th century type of style ... who's the manufacturer ? -
That one I found at http://www.lanefurniture.com
Some of the others sites I've found that have style's I like are...

Ron,
I'm not sure about Lane, but most manufacturers do don't sell direct to the public ... As you can see from Lane's page it would appear that they have a model number for that piece in the Embassy line ... you MIGHT be able to get a quote by calling Murrow, but they may not give out quotes over the phone. Do you have an idea of what your local stores charge for this piece ?
I could almost guarantee that places like this would handle the various lines by Lane or Thomasville, the others I'm not sure about. -
As a final update, the wife and I spent Friday shopping while Elise was in school and found what you see below. We bought the coffee table, 2 end tables and the couch table. We did not buy that tall piece pictured.
We ended up finding them in a clearence section for 50% off. Too boot, the coffee table had a scratch so we got them to take an additional 30% off of the entire 4 peices. The scratch was easily fixed with a stain-pen from Home Depot and we got away with a great deal.If...
