The people who created the Sasser virus can kiss my big hairy A$$ they got me but I think I got it out!! Everyone becareful!!!
My HT set-up Panasonic front proj, 120 in ws screen, ATI amp,Integra 9.8 pre-pro, 2 Polk rti150, cp 1000, 4 fx 1000, Pioneer blu-ray 2 SVS sub pb 12-ultra 2, & Paragon popcorn popper. ps 3 Coaster leather HT recliners.

    got my exwife too. she was one of the first . before anyone even new what it was . so of course after an hour of running scans (none had been updated to find sasser yet) i finally reformatted and reinstalled for her as she had no critical data anyway. now theres a stinger tool with a one click fix. pain in the **** . make sure you do all your critical windows updates , thats how it gets in, on a side note i have had no problems since using a router with an integrated firewall i have had no trojans ,viruses etc.

    got me too last week....almost did the fdisk but found the stinger executable that cleaned it up. 1st one i have got in a while. here is a pointer in you disable your firewall remeber to re-enable :)

    It's a worm that uses an exploit to reboot your machine if it's connected to the Internet. I'm sure we'll see a bunch more flavors of it.

    Thanks for this post because it has helped out big time at hbombs tonight.

    I just did the Windows XP service pack 1 upgrade and it was very time consuming............:(

    at least its done but I fear there is more:eek:

    I need to go run another audit just to make sure:(

    My short story at work:

    1. Got Sasser
    2. cleaned with stinger
    3. was installing MS security patch
    4. sassor hit again during the above installation and it rebooted the machine
    5. now it no longer boots , gives blue screen of death upon OS startup
